Signs That Your Heater Is in Trouble

One thing that no homeowner wants to face right as winter starts is a malfunctioning heater. Hopefully, you’ve had yours appropriately maintained to prevent some of the biggest problems that heaters can run into. Either way though, no heating system is completely immune to problems. Keep reading to learn some of the signs that your heater is in trouble and requires professional repairs.

Insufficient Heating

Is there air coming from your system, yet you don’t feel its heating effects? Because this defies the whole purpose of your heating system, it is obviously a frustrating problem. There are a number of things that could be wrong, but your next step should be calling a repair professional, whatever you suspect the issue might be.

Uneven Heating

Another possible scenario is that although your home is warming up, you’re noticing cold spots throughout. If your heater is ducted—a gas furnace or a heat pump for example—then you might have an airflow problem related to leaky ductwork. Whatever the problem is, it’s imperative that you have it fixed right away so your heating system won’t have to work harder than it should need to and won’t accumulate wear and tear faster.

High Energy Bills

One of the most common signs that something is wrong with your heater is a sudden increase in your utility bills without an increase in how much you’re using your system. You should expect your heating bills to fluctuate slightly during the winter, but not dramatically so.

Cold Air

If you notice lukewarm or cold air coming from your heater, then you may have a thermostat malfunction, or it could be a more serious problem. Whatever the problem, we assure that our team can get to the bottom of it.
