How to Keep Your Business Comfortable, Affordably

commercial-building

With the temperatures dropping and the holiday season in full swing, it can be easy to forget about your HVAC systems, particularly depending on what type of commercial space you operate or business you run. However, thinking about your HVAC is important—after all you need to make sure your employees, tenants, guests, or customers are comfortable when they visit your space.

This is the reason we always stress the importance of routine maintenance—more on that below.

Next to keeping your commercial space comfortable, you don’t want to be spending too much money on using your HVAC equipment. After all, all occupants should be able to maintain comfort in your space without your overhead costs skyrocketing. So, how can you save?

Consider a System Upgrade

If your commercial heater or air conditioner is outdated, one way to lower your costs is by upgrading to a high-efficiency model. Modern commercial systems are much more efficient than those of the past, and they do even more than simply heat or cool your commercial space—they help to improve the overall indoor air quality of your space making it an overall more enjoyable place to be.

Set the Thermostat at a Reasonable Level

In the summertime, it makes sense in a commercial space to have the air conditioner set pretty low—perhaps even lower than you would inside a home, if there is heat-producing equipment or appliances to consider. Still though, consider if where you’re setting that thermostat is actually reasonable. In the summer it could probably be at least a couple degrees higher, and this time of the year you really don’t need to crank up the heat too high—particularly if people are moving around and generating heat on their own.

Care for Your Commercial Ductwork

Over the years, the air ducts within your commercial space can start accumulating damage by way of natural wear and tear, holes, gaps, or loose fitting connections. This can happen naturally or from poor initial installation. Unfortunately, it wastes a considerable amount of conditioned air, and subsequently wastes energy and money.

Schedule Routine Maintenance

We mentioned this briefly, above. Scheduling commercial HVAC maintenance for your HVAC systems is imperative to their overall performance and efficiency. Scheduling heating maintenance on an annual basis gives our technicians the opportunity to thoroughly examine the components of your heater and ensure that everything is operating as it should. If there are any signs of problems, our professionals will provide you with options for repair (or replacement, if needed).

Caching small problems early on, and getting them managed right away, keeps your commercial HVAC system running efficiently so that you’re a lot less likely to be stuck with a malfunctioning HVAC system (and a significant business interruption) in the middle of one of the coldest days of the year (or hottest, if we’re talking about air conditioners).
