As much as we talk about professional air conditioning maintenance, one point we can’t stress enough is that there is a maintenance task that you can and should perform on your own. That is changing or cleaning the air filter in your HVAC system on a regular basis.

Your HVAC system’s air filter protects the cabinet which houses your air conditioner and furnace, or heat pump. It prevents dust, dirt, and other debris from entering the system and your home via the return air vents from creating damage. But if your air filter is ignored, then it can and will become clogged, resulting in an obstruction to your airflow and an air conditioning system that’s both inefficient and in danger of breaking down prematurely.
